Rekeying

Gold Coast · Mon–Fri 9am–5pm

Rekeying your locks

Changing who can open your door, without replacing the hardware. Usually the cheaper answer, and often the better one.

What rekeying actually is

The lock stays on your door. We take out the cylinder, rearrange the pins inside it, and cut you a new set of keys. The old keys stop working immediately.

That matters because you rarely need new locks. You need the old keys to stop opening your door, which is a different problem and a cheaper one to solve.

When people call us for this

Just moved in

You have no idea how many keys the previous owner handed out. Agents, tradies, family, a neighbour who waters plants.

Tenant changeover

Between tenancies, rekeying is quicker and cheaper than new hardware, and it keeps the doors matching.

Lost or stolen keys

If the keys went missing with anything showing your address on it, treat them as compromised.

A relationship ended

We do these quietly and without asking questions. Same-week appointments where we can.

Worth asking about: keyed alike

If you’re rekeying more than one lock, we can set them all to the same key. One key for the front door, back door and garage instead of a jangling handful. It costs very little extra while we’re already there, and it’s the thing customers most often wish they’d asked for afterwards.

What it costs

First lock rekeyed, incl. callout[YOUR PRICE]
Each additional lock[YOUR PRICE]
Keyed alike, per lock[YOUR PRICE]
Extra keys, each[YOUR PRICE]

Includes the callout anywhere in our service area and all labour. Doesn’t include replacement hardware if a lock turns out to be worn past rekeying — we’d tell you that on the phone or before starting, never after.

Book a rekey

Tell us how many locks and which suburb, and we’ll give you the full price on the call. Weekdays, 9am to 5pm.
